Charities

Project Hawker aims to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the attempt by Harry Hawker (Pilot) and Harry Kauper (Mechanic) to fly a Sopwith Waterplane in the Circuit of Britain Race of 1913.  In undertaking this flight in 2013 Jeff Boyling felt that the opportunity to raise funds for two worthwhile charities should not be missed.  Those charities are the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (RAFBF) and the Imperial War Museum (IWM) Duxford.  Any money raised goes to those charities and is totally separate from funding of the flight by sponsorship.

How you give and what you give is up to you but here are a few suggestions.

  • The total route is approximately 2000 miles so a penny mile is £20.00.
  • There are eight control points so support your local one by giving £12.50 or support all eight with £100.00.
  • Each time the Catalina lands or takes off during the Circuit of Britain donate at least £5.00 and there will be approximately 20 departures and landings.
RAFBF

The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund is the RAF’s leading welfare charity, providing financial, practical and emotional support to all members of the RAF family. They offer support to both serving and former members of the RAF, as well as their partners and dependants, whenever they need it. They help members of the RAF family deal with a wide range of issues: from childcare and relationship difficulties to injury and disability, and from financial hardship and debt to illness and bereavement.
